Banana & Strawberry Split Pie

This is a very easy to assemble dessert pie that takes all the ingredients from the classic sundae and turns it into a kid-friendly summer pie. This recipe is from my  500 Pies and Tart, originally it is called Banana & Strawberry Split Pie but because I have no banana at home except a pack of local highland strawberries, I called this cream pie - Strawberry Split Pie.  A wonderful after-dinner in cream and ice cream with the tangy strawberries...a sinful indulgence no doubt !

Fresh Strawberry Cake With White Chocolate Chips

Doing this in a rush is a mistake and I shall tell myself from now onwards never bake cake in a rush.  I baked this cake at 11.00pm and you can imagine how tired I was and with the aging process the mind just refuse to work.  Putting in the wrong ingredient due to reading the ingredient wrongly can give you nightmare !!!

Okay, I saw this fresh strawberry cake on Foodbuzz Top 9  by Felice of All That's Left Are The Crumbs . She is from  Honululu , Hawaii . And since I have most of the ingredients in the fridge or thought I have them all, I decided I want to make this for Claire and a friend for their breakfast the next day, which is today.  But the cake appearance was not like hers...then I realized.......

Mung Bean Biscuit / 'Tau Sar Piah '

The other day, Claire handed me a roll of Mung Bean Biscuits or  'Tau Sar Piah ' as known in the Hokkien language . She bought them when she was down in Penang to visit her son Andy.  It was a blessing for I did not prepare any desserts for WB that night and this ' Tau Sar Piah 'came in handy.  After our dinner , I served this mung bean biscuits and a pot of apple tea. It was delish and Penang is famous for its Mung Bean biscuits just like Ipoh is famous for its ' Charbroil Heong Piah ' . This biscuits saved me the trouble to prepare dessert for WB.

Raspberry Ripples Ice Cream Sandwiches

Simple desserts can be mouth watering at times....for example -  raspberry ripples ice cream or any of your favorite ice cream ,  sandwiched within 2 slices of  savory crackers...mmmm a perfect after dinner treat :))  I am so going to make this again for after dinner treats when the Piggies are home for their sem break.  This little sweet heavenly after meal treat reminded  me of my childhood days !!!   Taking a bite of this would be enough to send me to heaven and back :p yes try it if you don't believe me.  A great hot hot summer treat for us :))

Fruits In Chocolate Ice Cream - Father's Day Treat

This is what I make for Wild Boar on Father's Day....fresh fruits in chocolate ice cream !!! yea...I did not take him to the ice cream parlour but find whatever fresh fruits I can find in the fridge and arrange them nicely on an ice cream dish with scoops of chocolate ice cream and ganished it with toasted almond flakes :)  WB loves desserts of any kind as long as it is something sweet.  So this idea came along , and I managed to serve him the best dessert for his DAY !!!  A bit of this and that makes this ice cream dessert delectable.  The weather is so very hot and the ice cream just can't stand the heat and melted fast despite the air con was switched on all evening !

Heart Shape Konnyaku Fruity Jelly For Father's Day

I made this heart shape fruity jelly for Father's Day on behalf of my Piggies for their dad :)  A beautiful way to express our love for WB, a dad who helps shelter us from storm weathers....a dad who helps to troubleshoot our computers which we can't do without, a dad who helps solve sticky situations we face each day, a dad who helps cook when the Momsie is busy with work and a dad who chauffers us around when we needed him and a dad who provides our daily needs.  " Thank you Wild Boar for being there for us when we are feeling down and rejoices with us when we are happy !   This fruity jelly is for you......from us Piggies ....the heart shape symbolize our love and the fruits symbolize happiness and the sweetness of this jelly brings happiness to you all the days of your life.

Manhattan Lemon Cheesecake At Classmates Reunion

We used to have our meet up each time our ex classmates are back from either outstation or those who are already settled overseas.  Most of them love cheesecake , so to make things easy, I will bake just cheesecake for our meet up . A simple cheesecake - Manhattan Lemon Cheesecake which I learned from the baking classes I attended sometime back.  Most of them love this cake. I would make it a point to bake them this tangy cheese cake,  unless I could not make it to the meet up,  then they will go without any dessert :p  Haha they will not miss me but they will miss the cake.......LOL! just kidding here. They miss me more coz they have just found me...the lost sheep so I am precious.  35 years and finally I am the last sheep they managed to   gather back :)   Read on to see some of our meet up and see how much we have changed over the years.......

Salted Egg Yolk Custard Mini Pau

Who wouldn't  love this mini steamed pau especially if the filling is the mouthwatering salted egg yolk custard. This is slightly different from the ' steamed pau with salted egg yolk lava. Daddy perfers it this way, so I cook the custard till it is of a thicker consistency then leave it in the fridge to set so that it is easier to shape into a ball.

Strawberry Streusel Pizza

I have to put to use recipes from cookbooks that have been sitting on my book shelf for years or Wild Boar will be oinking down my ears :p  for I had ordered 3 more cooking books from Book Depository and they have arrived yesterday except  Peter Reinhart's bread book . It should arrive this coming week ( keeping my fingers crossed ) So , to stop the oinking that will burst my eardrum , I quickly flipped through my 500 Pizzas & Flatbreads and choose this sweet pizza for his dessert so that the sweetness will seal his lips from oinking and instead smacked his lips.   He eat strawberries even though that is not his favorite fruit but it is MINE!!! LOL!  The queen has the last say when it comes to ingredients :p  A lovely sweet pizza with streusel topping !
