Gifts I Won - A Good Start For The Rabbit Year :)


















This year is good year for me :P  I won gifts from food bloggers which I never got the luck the last few years and being invited to guest post for great Chef Dennis...* oinking away and today I am going to post up the gifts I won. Been wanting to show off my new recipe books and that pair of beautiful earrings :p

I can't contain my joy when Swee San wrote and told me that I won the Xmas contest she held and I was given the first choice to choose the book I want ....of course , being a passionate baker, I chose  " Nigella Lawson Christmas , for I have none of her collections.  And she is so kind to add in another book for me " Bowl of Fortune " LOL ! the reason being - sending me the book late!  She is kind right...these two books are great for the coming festivals... Xmas and CNY 2012 !!!


















Then , Veronica of Quay Po Cooks wrote to me and told me that I am one of the winners for her Valentine Contest....and she is so kind and sent me the pair of beautiful heart shape earrings...hand made by her some more....whoa they were exquisite and I love the colors too.  Veronica is nice, she knows all her readers likes and dislikes :) she knows that I love anything heart shape ( romantic Momsie that is me ) she sent the heart shape earrings to ME!!!! I oinked with joy . Thank you Swee San and Veronica for these beautiful gifts that I will hold dearly :)


















Next came an email from Chef Dennis extending an invitation to me to guest post for him.  Whoa, I can't tell you how happy I am.......I finally did a guest post for him....making it my first and I enjoyed the post much. Thank you Chef Dennis for giving the opportunity to guest post for you .

Soft & Fluffy Buns With Garlic ,Italian Parsley Butter & Cheese Topping - Water Roux Method


I have this bun making craze again. Haha, so I will be posting lots on them in the days to come. I learned to make this soft and fluffy bun from Grace and since then I have been baking these buns for our breakfast. I will normally make 2 loads and store them in air tight container and can keep for a few days in the fridge. Warm up in microwave for 30 seconds and tada... it is fresh like just out of the oven , soft and fluffy :) Beautiful fragrant buns for the family......goes well with a bowl of hot steaming soup of any kind :)

Nian Gao/ Glutinous Rice Cake Taro Rolls


















When I saw this Nian Gao Taro Rolls at Wendy's Blog,  I knew I had to make this for our sunday snacks. Taro being my favourite together with the nian gao...whoa who could resist .....thus the Wild Boar and myself had this for our sunday tea snack....gosh.. you must try this delectable nian gao/glutinous rice cake taro rolls.  This is my first time making it and I tell you I am going to make this again for my Piggies when they come home for their break. Keeping the  nian gao for them in the fridge :) So Piggies , don't worry , I have kept some unfried ones for you both :p

Chocolate Hazelnut Truffles - Valentine's Delight



















I made some Chocolate Hazelnut Truffles to celebrate Valentine's Day . A treat for the Piggies . I saw this recipe on Mary's blog - One Perfect Bite and I knew I will be making this for the family for V Day. By the time you read this post I may be in KL . Jo will be doing her PhD in materials engineering, starting on  February 16 and we are helping her transport her stuffs to her new place. I have been pretty busy since CNY and I have been feeling sad  and happy at the same time, the same feeling I went through 5 years ago when she started college.  Well, only a mother will know what it is like. Happy and sad at the same time. Happy becoz she gets to do what she wanted all her life...sad becoz I am going to miss her terribly :p  Anyway , making these sinfully rich chocolate hazelnut Truffles has really soothe me and make me happy and what more taking a bite of it ....has temporary taken my sadness away . Chocolate is the best food for this kind of feeling I am going through right now :p   To Jo...All the best in your future undertakings..Mom loves you and Happy Valentine's Day to you and de Boy :)

Bill's Big Carrot Cake - Dorie Greenspan


















This recipe is from Dorie Greenspan   " Baking From My Home To You "  and this is the second time I baked this. The first time I baked this , I took it from someone's blog , that was before I bought her book , and it turned out great.  This is my second time baking it with the book on hand it turned out great too. Many readers have emailed me and asked me for the recipe and now I can share it with you this , one of Dorie's great creation. This is a wonderful moist carrot cake . I tweaked it a bit to my taste , lesser sugar and instead of using full corn oil, I half it with corn oil and melted butter for a softer texture.
