Wishing all mothers A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ! I made this special heart pie packed with fresh cranberries and Korean strawberries for Mother's Day. I used the same Páte Brisée recipe from Martha 's Pies and Tarts. I love the pastry crust and with so much cranberries in the freezer and a tub of sweet strawberries....the most logical thing to do is to fill the heart crust with these favorite fruits and big scoops of vanilla and strawberry ice cream....great dessert for Momsie Elin and Wild Boar. Mother's day is just once a year celebration...so eat all and what I want...right ? A toast to all the wonderful mothers out there, including myself. All mothers deserve this wonderful day and joyful celebrations with the family. Have a great one and continue to drool on to the next page for more pictures and recipe :)))
I took the recipe from Martha's Pies and Tarts - Pear-Raspberry Heart Pie but instead of Pear and raspberry, I substituted with fruits that I have in the fridge... cranberries and strawberries !!! :)) It turned out marvelous ! Serve it with strawberry and vanilla ice cream....awesome dessert ! I love not just the pastry, I love the fruits and I love my heart pan too !
The crimson filling is only part of this pie allure ...the pastry is also sure to impress anyone who loves pies and tarts. I have been making this pate brisee from Martha's book many times and still craving for more LOL! I have grown sideways and soon I have to hide the book away from within reach :p
I added some crackers on the base of the pastry crust to absorb
the juices from the fresh fruits and keep the base from being
soggy.
I cut out some cute small hearts for decoration :)
do you see the strip of parchment paper
under the crust pastry...for easy lifting out the pie
after the pie has cooled down....smart eh ?
this is a beautiful heart pie
great for Monday's day and
other special occasion like Father's Day
and Valentine's Day or Anniversaries :)
look at the crimson fillings....gorgeous sugar coated crust
mmmmm....yummy
add two large scoops of ice cream....now tell me
is this awesome dessert fit for a queen ?? I meant Momsie Elin....LOL!
I wish my Mom was around to celebrate together with me
on this special Mother's Day...awww I miss my Mom !
anyway I know she will be looking down and smiling
at this cute heart pie :)
Mom I love you though you are no longer with us!
Happy Mother's Day to you too !
