This is another cake from from Evan's Kitchen Ramblings that I copied cat on :p I bought some purple sweet potatoes from the wet market the other day and remembered this cake from EKR. The inside of the sweet potatoes were dark purple in color as you can see from the bits of it in the cake. I love the natural purple color which gave the cake a very nice and refreshing look. The texture is moist and light at the same time. A beautiful color, natural purple and rich with nutirents and I love the bits of sweet potatoes in it. Delicious ! and I shall make this again , a keeper no doubt :)

I prefer my french toast baked rather than pan fried with butter. It is so much healthier and yummy too if baked. I like to add banana slices and dark chocolate to it. We had four days holidays and this is what I served for our brunch when we were too lazy to go out and queue for our food....the crowds were either visitors from KL or Penang or as far as Singapore :p . All the famous eating places were packed so Wild Boar rather eat in. For me it is sheer heaven, no rushing to office and the best thing was we can sleep in LOL! Woke up to something sweet and chocolatey....double happiness !

First, I would like to thank my dear friends Kitty and Ronnie for giving me a big load of fresh sweet cherries. Wild Boar and I tucked in some of these deliciously sweet and juicy cherries and kept some for making these delectable moist and berries packed mini cakes. Secondly , I would like to thank Angie Tee of Seasaltwithfood for giving me a packet of this melts in the mouth Persian Saffron Candy floss and a cute Piggy silicone spatula ( you can check it out on my other blog ) I am so blessed ! We had a meet up with a few of our ex colleagues whom we have not seen for a year and had a wonderful time catching up with each other besides tucking in good food :) One of them had gone for a holiday to the Caribbean island, Barbados. He took his wife to visit their son in London and after having stayed in London for 2 weeks, they adjourned to Barbados . He told us how they booked their flights to Barbados from London and it was so much cheaper than booking straight from home since they were already in London. They enjoyed the beautiful and colorful villages and the miles of sandy beaches lapped by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. No wonder, this explained how they acquired their sun tan :) And they shared how they really enjoyed the food there and had their first taste of flying fish sandwich ! Wow...this makes all of us drool over the food photos they showed us on the iPhone. They managed to capture most of the beautiful places in their iPhone for us to view and we were enthralled by the beautiful island of Barbados by just looking through the photos they took. It is not just an island for sea adventures, it is an island of rum and reggae and really a great place to eat and drink.
James told us that it is very easy to book flights to Barbados from UK. We can book the air tickets to Barbados from many UK airports and he told us that they have many special fares to Barbados which is not highlighted on their websites and it is best to call the office to find out the special fares! And you can guess that the whole meet up was on their adventures in Barbados. He really enlightened us with an account of his recent holiday and he insisted that we should all include Barbados for our holidays ! Of course, we will!

It must quite a while since I last made bread for the house :) I decided to run my Kenwood Titanium mixer which has been lying on the counter , not used for many months. Wild Boar advised to run it once in a while or the motor will die on me :p I normally use the hand mixer for convenient sake for making buns. And since he specially requested for wholemeal bread, this is the best time to run the Kenwood mixer :) And I decided to try my hands at making Sandwich Loaf using my Pullman tin ( bought it many months ago and have not used it till now :p ) . I took the recipe from Happy Home Baking - White Sandwich Bread and adapted it to suit WB's taste. He wanted wholemeal bread , so I tweaked it and added 15 percent wholemeal flour to the recipe . It turned out great. Making my own bread from home gives me joy and happiness. The smell of freshly baked bread is so intoxicating LOL! And seeing WB eating them brings pleasure....homemade ones are healthy, free from preservative and softener. Who says homemade ones are not soft ? They can keep soft for two days. On the third day , I just have to microwave it for 20 seconds and it is just as good as freshly baked ones.
