Pizza Bun


Pizza Bun...look how gorgeous it looks.. not look gorgeous but taste fantastic too. Great for any kids party or any afternoon tea party.  Pizza and bun put together...mind, this is really really good. I used my favorite pizza dough and used ingredients that is usually placed on pizza tops. If you take this pizza bun to any pot luck party, your friends and guests will be wow over :)

It may look complicated to make but actually it is easy to pull together the pizza bun.  A keeper for sure and I find making it fun and relaxing :) I am sure after reading thru this post, you will want to make it too.

the pizza dough ready for action :)

1) place dough on grease proof paper and roll out into a round disc of 12 inch diameter
and cut 6 equal slits 3 inches out  from center 

2) brush pizza sauce on surface after the slits towards outer ring
and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce

4) this part is the most exciting part...pull the slit from the center
towards the outer ring...and fold over from the outer ring
as shown in the pic above

5) wrap streaky bacon strips over the portions of the  fold over slits, use a mini bamboo 
skewer to hold the end part of the streaky bacon strips
as shown in the pic above

6)fill up the exposed part alternately with tomato slices. fresh button mushroom slices,
drizzle herbs infused rice bran oil over the tomato and button mushroom and topped
with extra mozzarella cheese

7) place the pizza bun on the middle rack and bake in preheated oven of 200 deg C
for 25-30 mins or until cooked

8) remove from oven and serve while still warm

the pizza dough is soft and fluffy, you will want more after the first bite !



  • Basic Pizza Dough:
  • 4 cups all purpose flour, plus additional for kneading
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt

In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in 1 1/2 cup warm water. Whisk 2 cups of flour and the olive oil and cover with a damp cloth. Set aside in a warm place until doubled. About 1 hour. Stir in the remaining flour and the salt and knead.. yes KNEAD! for 5 minutes until the dough is smooth. It’s a good work-out! Let the dough rest for 10 minutes before rolling out or refrigerate


ingredients for pizza toppings

6 strips of streaky bacon
2 tomatoes- remove seed and cut into slices
7 fresh brown button mushrooms - cut into slices
grated mozzarella cheese

Herbs infused rice bran oil  - to drizzle over the toppings before baking
mix 1 tbsp of dried mixed herbs to 1/4 cup rice bran oil

Pizza sauce
3 tbsp tomato puree + 2 tbsp of tomato paste + 1 tbsp of rice bran oil + 1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs
